Romola Sebastianpillai

Appointed the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division Mrs Romola Sebastianpillai OAM

For service to the community of Darwin through charitable and other organisations.

Mrs Romola Sebastianpillai has contributed significantly to many charitable and community organisations in the Northern Territory for the past 34 years. Dedicated to serving her new community, Mrs Sebastianpillai has volunteered with Cancer Council Northern Territory since 1986, serving as Chair of the Regional Luncheon Committee from 1986 to 1994, as Board Member for 10 years, and as Public Officer in 2012.

She has also been a member of Rince Na h’Eireann, the Darwin Irish Dance Association since 2003, serving as President since 2006, bringing the joy of dance to many Mrs Sebastianpillai was Secretary of the Darwin Film Society and is a Life Member of Penguin Club Australia. She has organised events for Daffodil Day, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and Pink Ribbon Day.

In 2015 Mrs Sebastianpillai was awarded the Fair Go Medal in the Pride of Australia Medals, recognising her dedication to helping others.
