Multicultural Participation Framework 2016-19

The Northern Territory Government has released the Multicultural Participation Framework 2016-19, as part of its plan to ensure a strong, socially inclusive and cohesive society.

With more than 100 different languages spoken by people living in the Northern Territory, it is important government coordinates services and support for the Territory’s multicultural community.

The Multicultural Participation Framework 2016-19 (1.1 mb) was developed in consultation with the Minister’s Advisory Council on Multicultural Affairs, along with feedback from community consultation which included workshops in Alice Springs and Darwin, an online survey and invited submissions. 

Priority areas incorporated in the Multicultural Participation Framework 2016-19 align with the Northern Territory Government’s Framing the Future Plan, with a focus on:

  • Community
  • Diversity
  • Housing
  • Economic security
  • Education
  • Health
  • Safety; and
  • Lifestyle

An implementation plan for the Multicultural Participation Framework 2016-19 will be finalised by the end of July 2016, outlining key actions, responsibilities and timeframes.
