Jabiru Regional Director Appointed
A former Jabiru resident and Director of West Arnhem College has been appointed as the NT Department of the Chief Minister’s Regional Director - Jabiru, bringing a wealth of local knowledge and networks to the newly created role.
John Bray took up the role on 22 May 2017 and, following a two-day stopover in Darwin, has made his way out to Jabiru where he will live and work.
“My wife Katrina and I are very excited to come back to Jabiru,” Mr Bray said.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to work with the community in planning for the future.”
The Regional Director role has been created to support the work currently underway to plan for the future of Jabiru. John will lead a range of stakeholder engagement for the Northern Territory Government’s work, in better understanding economic development, population and infrastructure potential for Jabiru.
John also joins the Jabiru Stakeholder Group, comprising representatives from the NT Government, Australian Government, Energy Resources of Australia, Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation and Northern Land Council.
The group continues to meet every month, with John providing an important on-the-ground link between the group and the community in planning for the future of Jabiru.
John is working out of the Jabiru Training Centre and can be contacted via email (email@example.com) or phone (0429 061 764).
John has previously held senior positions within the NT and Queensland education departments, including as a Senior Policy Officer, Senior Director, Principal and Executive Principal. Most recently, John was the Director of Partnerships and Communication for the Stronger Smarter Institute.
