Medicare ‘Are you being counted?’ competition

Published

Territorians are being encouraged to update their Medicare details with a $5000 prize now on offer for one lucky resident each month until the end of May. Any Territorian who has a Territory home address listed with Medicare can enter the ‘Are you being counted?’ competition.

Medicare address records are used to estimate population and calculate how GST is distributed by the Australian Government to states and territories. By updating your Medicare details to a Northern Territory residential address funding is made available for government services and infrastructure such as roads, schools, hospitals, festivals and events.

Charles Darwin University estimates that at any one time, there are approximately 6,000 people living in the Territory that are yet to update their Medicare details. That’s millions of dollars of lost revenue that could be used to improve the services you use every day.

There are 4 ways to check and update your Medicare details:

  • Through your myGov account
  • Contact Medicare general enquiries on 132 011
  • Download the Medicare Express Plus mobile app
  • Visit the nearest Centrelink/Medicare office
