Remuneration of Government Boards

This page provides information on Northern Territory Government (NTG) boards and committees. It includes advice on governance, remuneration, and a link where you can register interest in becoming a member of an NTG board.

Legislation and administration

Boards and committees play an important role in good governance. They provide an effective link between government and the community.

NTG boards and committees are established under an Act of Parliament, by a decision of Government, or by an individual Minister.

Remuneration and other entitlements for members of statutory bodies are governed by the Assembly Members and Statutory Officers (Remuneration and Other Entitlements) Act. The Department of the Chief Minister administers this Act, which can be viewed at Northern Territory Legislation Database.

The Boards Handbook provides advice for both members and administrators of NTG boards and committees.

Classification and remuneration

Section 12(1) of the Act requires the publishing of the following documents. They include a list of NTG statutory bodies classified for remuneration purposes; the classification structure that sets remuneration and other entitlements for statutory bodies; and remuneration determinations approved by the Administrator.

NTG Agencies can find further advice on remuneration for NTG statutory bodies on NTG Central.

Expression of Interest - NTG boards and committees

The NTG is encouraging expressions of interest from a diverse range of people interested in serving on NTG boards and committees.

Registrations can be made through the NTG Careers in Government website.
