Celebrating Aboriginal Culture (Australia Day) Grant Program

The Northern Territory Government is continuing to evolve Australia Day to ensure it celebrates, meaningfully acknowledges and recognises Aboriginal culture and Aboriginal people’s contribution to our national identity.

The Territory is leading the way in supporting a mix of traditional, new and different ways that Aboriginal people and community want to celebrate and commemorate Aboriginal Territorian way and style.

This year saw a diverse range of events and activities; from celebrating the diversity of Aboriginal music and language, dealing with controversial matters about colour to documenting history, significant life stories and celebrating Aboriginal food delicacies and cuisine.

As part of next year’s Australia Day celebrations, Celebrating Aboriginal Culture (Australia Day) Grants will be available to individuals, organisations and businesses.

Providing an opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal culture, language and history while enhancing the experience of Australia Day across the Territory.
