What is the Jabiru Masterplan

Under the original plans for Jabiru, the town was to be demolished at the end of mining. The Mirarr Traditional Owners have supported the principle of the town continuing beyond mining. The Jabiru Masterplan is the Traditional Owners’ vision for the future of the town.

Their vision is: “A world leading ecologically sustainable, economically and socially vibrant community where traditional Aboriginal culture, all people and the natural environment flourish.” The Jabiru Masterplan is a significant indicator of the Traditional Owners’ support for the future of the town. The Masterplan is the foundation document used to develop the Jabiru Business Case (refer Q4).

The Jabiru Footprint is a visual representation of the Jabiru Masterplan.
