New after-hours youth activities in Alice Springs
The Northern Territory Government has funded a range of new after-hours activities in Alice Springs over the school holiday period to keep kids off the street and provide opportunities to get their lives on a better path.
Through the new Youth Services Innovation Grants program, six new activities are being run these October school holidays with up to nine more to be delivered over the December-January school holiday period.
The funding has been awarded to a variety of different organisations aimed to diversify the activities and services being offered to young people. Activities include song writing and recording, youth repatriation support, health relationship education and awareness and sports activities on top of existing services offered by Central Australian Aboriginal Congress, Alice Springs Town Council and the Gap Youth & Community Centre.
Having a diverse range of activities is an essential component of the new delivery model for after-hours youth activities that has been co-designed with the NGO sector.
