Royal Darwin Hospital entrance to undergo $13.5 million renovation

A tender has been awarded for extensive refurbishment works on the ground floor of Royal Darwin Hospital.

Halikos Constructions has been awarded the construction contract for the refurbishment of outpatients and pre-admission clinic, including the main entry foyer.

The $13.5 million project includes the relocation of the Receiver of Territory Monies, Indigenous Liaison Office, pharmacy and security, the addition of new Patient Transit Lounge, asbestos remediation and fire safety works.

Approximately 150 workers will be employed at different periods of construction and Halikos aims for 30 per cent Indigenous employment participation. Careful co-ordination will be ensured to maintain patient, staff and visitor safety in one of the busiest zones within the hospital.

Construction is expected to commence in March and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2016.

This tender is part of the $64 million Royal Darwin Hospital Redevelopment project.
